Daisy Brenda Gay

GAY, Daisy Brenda, 75, passed away July 18, 2016 at her home with her close Family caring for her in Tampa, Fla. ending her seventeen year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born May 8, 1941 in the County Hospital in Tampa. She is a 7th generation Floridian who grew up in Palm River and graduated from Brandon High School where she was a member of the American Junior Red Cross. She went on to graduate from Comptometrist School in Tampa & was hired by Graybar Electric Inc. Daisy worked her way up to head bookkeeper and retired after 32 years of service to begin her cancer treatment at Moffitt. She is survived by her four brothers and three sisters, Lillian M. Conner of St. Petersburg, FL, Kenneth R. Gay (Reba) of Tampa, FL, Norman B. Gay (Louise) of Tampa, FL, Audrey M. Conner of St. Petersburg, FL, Carole L. France (Bob) of Jefferson, GA, Eddie A. Gay (Wanda) of Dover, FL, Dennis F. Gay (Linda) of Tampa, FL. She was dearly loved by her 22 nieces and nephews, 40 grandnieces and nephews, seven great-grandnieces and nephews and many cousins. Daisy is preceded in death by her parents, Broward and Ada Gay; many cherished aunts and uncles; many wonderful cousins; and her beloved dog, Mada whom she lost a little over a year ago. She will be remembered as always there to listen, give advice, and keep a secret if need be. She was a person you could always count on and easy to love. She knew how to make us all laugh earning the title of “Crazy Aunt Daisy” with her pranks and silliness at family gatherings. She was interested in what was going on in your life, freely giving an open ear and support over a cup of tea or coffee, a true treasure. Although called to be with her Lord, departed family and Mada, Daisy will be greatly missed… till we meet again. A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
