Dad I miss you more and more everyday! I miss your smile and the way your cheeks felt when you hadn't shaved! I wish I could give you a big kiss or take you for a ride in your truck. I know you are in a far better place now but I'm selfish and I want you back. I couldn't have asked for a better father/dad/friend. I miss you! Until we meet again!!! <3

Dear Hurst family,
I worked for Dan in the warehouse of his first Zee Medical Service building back in 1980. He was always very good to me and everyone else.
Always very stern but more than fair. He always wanted the best from everyone and was a great inspiration to me and everyone else I saw him come in contact with. What a great man. The very best of us all.

The last 72 hours were the toughest of my life.
Then suddenly you passed around nine that night.
I heard the news of this tragedy over the phone,
but I knew I should take it as a blessing because the Lord wanted you home.
He took away your pain so you wouldn't suffer anymore.
He brought you home and gave you peace; no more hell to endure.
So many tears were shed. So many eyes were red.
but I knew you could finally rest, upon your bed.
I tried to be a man but there's only so much I can stand.
I held back so many tears, but finally they just ran
Down my cheek and at the moments when away you rolled
I only dropped a few, but when Momma kissed you, I broke.
Having you gone is tough and the days will be rough
And now every sad song reminds me we have to stay strong.
The days will be rough and a few long nights
but I don't wanna mourn your death , we need to celebrate your life.
I will miss you Pop-Pop.

There was no one quite like Dan. He was a powerhouse and it was always a fun time when he was around. Dan is a large part of many of our memories from our youth. He encouraged me to accept my second calling at church even though it scared me to death. He told me he believed in me and that I was a capable and strong woman and that the Lord would help me overcome my insecurities. That meant a ton to me at that stage of my life. I look forward to seeing Dan again some day the way I remember him from those earlier years. Sending much love and sympathy to the entire Hurst family. We love all of you! Salinda and Mark Riebow

Dan Hurst was always "larger than life" to me and my family. He was so much fun and always had a funny remark to cheer others up. His love for his family was evident at all times and especially for his precious Cherril. And, his love of the Gospel was so plain to see. He served well for so many years. Please, Hurst family, consider all of yourselves hugged and Danny and I are continuing to pray for you peace and comfort which WILL come in time. Love! Danny & Carol Anglin

Daddy, you taught me so many things! Unconditional love from a parent to a child. You taught me what a real man does in his life: provides for his family, loves his wife and treats her with respect, serves others and enjoys the joys of life! You took me by the hand and showed me the world. You trained by dear husband for SIX YEARS and molded him into a man you knew would take care of me before you let him take me away from you. He loves you like his own father. You taught my children to respect others and to love and cherish their family. You have made such a huge impact in my life, now that you're gone, you're leaving a huge hole in my heart!! I will miss you so much! We will take care of Mom, don't you worry! And when it's time, come take her hand to sit by your side. I love you Dad! Thank you for being the best man I ever knew.

My thoughts are turned to the valiant man he was while i lived with them for a year. He instilled in me the importance of the gospel & family. He & all of his family was such a joy for me during a challenging time of my life. They took me in & loved me greatly. I can hear his footsteps down the hall coming to wake me for early morning seminary. You are loved & will never be forgotten Papa Hurst.

Seeing the love in his eyes for his family tells so much ... as he looked at each member of his family, and it was captured in pictures, he portrayed to all what love can provide.
