David “Big Curf” Randal Curfman passed away on August 1st, 2021 at his home in Valrico Florida, at the age of 63. David was born on December 2, 1957 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He grew up in Olathe Colorado and Sebring Florida. David was a strong competitor and most known for his passion for wrestling throughout his high school and college years. After two successful years of wrestling at Sebring High School he relocated to Colorado and graduated from Sterling High School followed by Colorado State University. His work ethic led him to enrolling in ROTC in college and commissioned in the Army Reserve. After college, David pursued his career in the insurance business and married Karen Curfman in 1987. The same year, he built his forever family home in Valrico, Florida. He enjoyed “piddling” in his shed and working around the yard. It was this home in which he was able to create countless memories with friends and family.
David was a proud Dad, Papa, brother and loyal friend. Spending time with his family and friends was his sole purpose; he lived for his kids and family. David had a passion for serving. He was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church, from working Lenten fish Fry’s with Men’s club to sharing with his Brothers in Christ in a Men’s Small Christian Community. He also served an officer with the Brandon Elks Lodge and proud member of the American Veterans. He also served as athletic director for the Brandon Cowboys Football Association, and “coach” for many of his kids youth sports. He was the kids’ biggest fans on and off the ball field.
David was pre deceased by his parents, Ralph Curfman and Otilia B. Curfman; brother Mike Curfman; and sister, Linda Curfman.
David is survived by his three children, Kristine Daniel (Forrest), David Randal Curfman II and Cari Osberg (Nick) and 6 grandchildren Katie, William, Ryley, Mason, Brayden and Parker. He is also survived by siblings, Ralph Curfman, Norma Maul, Steve Curfman, Kenneth Curfman, Brenda Curfman and Gerald Curfman, numerous nephews and nieces throughout the country and many friends and neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday August, 16th 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd. in Brandon, followed by the Catholic Rite of Christian Burial graveside at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
