Dionilde was born on January 24, 1935, to Manuel and Emelia Grave in Serra de Santo António, Portugal. She met the love of her life, Antonio Pires Vieira, and they were married on October 25, 1953. Together, they built a loving family and raised three children: Maria and twins Linda and David. In 1965, Dionilde and her family immigrated to the United States, settling in Hartford, Connecticut.
She worked at Royal Typewriter before beginning a career in the Records Department at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. After retiring, Dionilde devoted her time to the things she loved most: crocheting, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren. She took great pride in her family, and her love and devotion to them will remain a lasting part of their lives.
Dionilde was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, Antonio, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. She is survived by her three children, Maria (Carlos) Tavares, Linda (Jim) Plante, and David (Sharon) Vieira; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Manuela (Albino) Conceição; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Dionilde will be remembered for her strength, devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
