Dolores was born on August 18, 1929, in Quebec, Canada, to Eugene J. Brassard and Angeline Eno. In 1944, her family relocated to Holyoke, Massachusetts, where she began working at a local paper mill and later as an elevator operator. In the mid-1950s, Dolores met Robert Washington Newman, who was stationed nearby at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts. They were married on June 16, 1956, in Holyoke and moved to Tampa, FL soon after where they built a loving life together, raising three children: Robert Eugene Newman, Karen Marie (Newman) Fischer, and Charles Alan Newman. While raising her young family, Dolores worked in her children’s school cafeteria, serving lunches and supporting the local community. She later joined Honeywell Corporation as an electronics assembler, where she dedicated 20 years of service before retiring. In her retirement years, Dolores found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed attending Mass and cherished simple pleasures such as line dancing, playing bingo, and shopping. Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage; her brothers, Paul, Eugene, and Edward Brassard; and her sister, Maureen Underdahl. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Eleanore Owens; her children, Robert E. Newman, Karen M. Fischer and husband Benjamin Fischer, and Charles A. Newman and wife Karen (DiGioia) Newman; her grandchildren, Justin Victor, Rachael Nichole Newman, Nicholas Robert DiGioia, Brittany Lynn DiGioia, Zachary Paul Newman, and Jacob Charles Newman; and her seven great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends who will cherish her memory. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
