Donnie Preston Tanner, Sr., 66, a lifelong area resident passed away April 16, 2011. He was a Multi Feature Winning Race Car Driver Champion. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon; sons, Mike Tanner and Donnie Tanner Jr.; daughters, Sheri Tanner Johnson and Charlene Tanner Scofield; six grandchildren, James Tanner Scofield, Michael Scofield, Amber Tanner Poznecki, Shannon Tanner Scofield, Bradley Tanner, and Genea Marie Johnson; and three great-grandchildren; an extended family and numerous friends. The family will receive friends today, 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Stowers Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Providence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
