Doug was born in Denver, Colorado to Geraldine and Larry Polsdofer, the third of five children. From an early age he was known as Dougie Fresh.
Throughout his career Doug was a jack of all trades; he was a professional limousine driver in Denver before becoming an HVAC dispatcher, which he continued to pursue when he moved to Tampa. His coworkers knew him as a charismatic, smart, honest, and hardworking friend, which was a true testament to his character.
When not at work you could find him doing one of his favorite things: hitting a par at the golf course, catching a sunset beach dinner with his beloved wife, hanging out with his dogs (Dexter, Winston and Enrique) and cats (Cleopatra and Oscar), watching a football game (he loved the Denver Broncos, KC Chiefs, CU Buffalo and USC Trojans) or relaxing poolside in his Florida dream home.
Doug is survived by his wife and love of his life, Marti Polsdofer; his son Darryl McGee; his step-daughter Lauren Lawson Manning (Eric Manning); his father Larry Polsdofer (Debbie Polsdofer); mother-in-law Barbara Swope; his siblings Terry Polsdofer (Marcia Polsdofer), Diane Stearns, Steve Polsdofer (Robert Manzanares), Erik Polsdofer, Tammi Miller (Mark Miller), Todd Shaw (Melissa Shaw). He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Pacheco, and step-father Abel Pacheco.
More than anything, Doug will be remembered for his smart thinking, caring nature, and commitment and loyalty to family and friends. Though he was often thoughtful and soft-spoken, his life and legacy left an impact that is beyond words.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillsborough County Pet Resource Foundation in Doug’s memory at hcprfoundation.org.
