We are sadly announcing the passing of Elizabeth Jane Quick, Betty as most everyone knows her. Betty has left behind her husband of 42 years, Steve Quick; daughter, Shellie Black; son Willam Black, and his wife, Karen and their four children, Ashlea, Kara, Darren and William; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Marty Zegar and their extended family.
Betty was born in New Jersey on January 4, 1950 and moved to Miami when she was very young. She and her sister grew up together in Miami with their mother and father, until she was married to her first husband Bill and moved to follow his military career. She had Billy and Shellie and they moved around the country quite a bit. They were divorced in the Early 80s. She met Steve and got married to him in 1983 to whom she lived with for the next 42 1/2 years.
Steve and Betty lived most of their lives in Thonotosassa, Florida where Betty wore a mix of hats doing jobs such as bartending, building skyscrapers, managing A1 Temps, and managing cafeterias at Bailey and Mabry Elementary Schools.
She battled cancer for the last two years and would like to thank Dr. Zane and his staff as well as her doctors and staff at Moffitt Cancer Center and Hospice AccentCare. She did her best to stay positive and upbeat and her medical teams really helped with that.
Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She touched so many lives in such a positive way. Her absence will be felt by many.
