Elvira Ann Gore

She is survived by her son Patrick Gore and his wife Amy and their three children Benjamin, Jackson and Carter; and by her daughter Christy Gore and her husband Jesus Urena and their daughter Nina Gore-Urena. She is also survived by her dear friends, Lucy Turner (cousin), Janet Griggs and Olga Barnes, her loving godchildren and countless friends too numerous to list. The family also extends its sincere gratitude to her amazing team of caregivers for their compassionate care and steadfast support.

Born November 22, 1940, in Tampa, FL, Vera devoted her life to her family, friends and boldly living and experiencing life through world travel. She lived a life defined by strength, humor, curiosity and fierce loyalty to those she cared about and enjoyed celebrating with loved ones over a beautiful meal and a raised glass.

Being generous of spirit, she found joy in the success of others, especially her beloved family and friends. She was always ready with a pep talk, life advice or feedback, whether you wanted it or not. You know she loved you and cared about you when SHE decided YOU needed perspective and proceeded to “tell it like it is.”

Growing up in Tampa, Vera attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Academy of the Holy Names. It is there she developed a devotion to God and the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco. She had a long successful career in banking starting with 1st National Bank of Tampa, First Florida, Barnett and eventually retiring with Bank of America. She was very respected by her colleagues and customers as a trusted, savvy banker, businesswoman and friend.

She was a lover of the arts and a volunteer at the Straz Performing Arts Center for 15 years and never missed a Broadway show or play. A lover of Redington Shores and amazing sunsets she used to declare time spent out on the sand and in the water “an investment to my longevity.”

Everyone has a Vera story, and we will relish the memories, the love and the laughter of a remarkable woman and a life fully lived.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1711 East 11th Avenue, Tampa, Florida with fellowship to follow at the parish hall.
