Fred A Collins

COLLINS, Fred Arbour, 82, entered into rest September 11, 2011. Fred was born October 28, 1928 in Mackeyes, North Carolina the son of a farmer and a homemaker. He came to Tampa in 1950 and drove for Tampa Transit in the City of Tampa for 18 ½ years. Fred was the Treasurer of Union 1464, Manager of Tampa Transit Credit Union for 8 years, Director-Secretary of Florida Central Credit Union, Director of the Florida Credit Union, League Director of Polk County Chapter, Past President of the Kiwanis of Mulberry, Manager/President of IMCCF CU for 30 years starting in 1968, Member of the Chamber of Commerce in Mulberry and Director of Tampa Chapter Credit Union. He also enjoyed dancing, gardening, golfing and was an avid sports fan. Fred was preceded in death by his son, Fred Collins, Jr.; brothers, Grayson Collins and John Collins and sister, Agnes Mary Jones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Elsie Collins; daughters, Marilyn Collins of Tampa, Charnell Beel and husband, William of Palm Harbor and Donna Leigh Huston of Ventura, California; sister, Peggy Conroy of San Diego, California; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and an extended loving family and friends. Fred was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 12PM with visitation 11AM-Noon at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will immediately follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Fred’s name to LifePath Hospice.
