During his tenure as The Chief of the Thornton Fire Department he brought a degree of professionalism that was truly needed and appreciated . He provided many opportunities for learning and preparing me for the future. I always appreciated his humor and also shared part of his frustrations.
He loved the Fire Service and he cherished the people who worked to make the Thornton Fire Department a great organization, I heart goes out to the family for their loss and God Bless .

George Buck was my Fire Chief the entire time he was in Thornton, CO. He was a mentor and provided me with many leadership opportunities. Under his command I was a Lieutenant, a Captain and the Department Training Officer. He instilled confidence in your ability to do your job. He always told me many times, " When you get to be Chief...", and I have taken a lot of those lessons with me, especially when I became the Fire Chief in Golden CO. Besides being a leader, he was your friend. Many times we played golf, fished and shared a cold one or two. Great man. So sad to hear of his passing. Rest in peace Chief Buck.
