George E. Decker, age 78, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughters by his side on October 23, 2020. He was born on July 16, 1942 in Laporte, IN the son of Gerald and Marjorie (Carey) Decker.
George was a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. During his tenure in the Navy, he served his country in many different conflicts from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Vietnam War. After the Navy, he was employed with Westinghouse/Siemens for 28 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Moose Lodge.
George was an avid traveler, he and his wife Lynda traveled across the country together and have wonderful memories in their numerous visits to the Caribbean Islands especially Barbados.
George was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Decker; his mother, Marjorie (Carey) Decker. He leaves to mourn his passing the love of his life wife Lynda Decker; Daughters Laura Decker, Amy Channell (Aaron), Step-Son Steve and Step-Daughter Kim (Steven), Grandchildren Ryan Decker (Rachel), Allison Channell, Audrey Channell, Kelsey Pollock (Thomas), Karalynn Williams and Kendall Williams. One great grandchild Maci. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara Bradshaw, Phyllis Thorpe, Marge Swan (Rory), Sandy Mimnaugh (Pete) and brother Jerry Decker and well as many dear nieces and nephews.
