Guillermo Martinez was born in Nuevo Laredo Mexico on January 10th, 1938, where he grew up and met Margarita at the tender age of 10 at their local elementary school. After surviving a horrific car accident at the age of 16 that claimed the lives of nine people in Illinois, Guillermo returned to Mexico where he continued to recuperate and later marry his childhood sweetheart. Years later, Guillermo and Margarita made Chicago, Illinois their new home where their children grew up and he dedicated 35 years of his life to General Electric.
Guillermo Martinez Sr. is survived by his five children; Guillermo Martinez Jr., Maria Rivera,Cristina Martinez, Elizabeth Cordeiro Numa and Gerardo Martinez, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margarita Martinez.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled on September 11, 2026 from 1-3:00 p.m. to pay last respects and a religious service beginning at 3:00 p.m. All who knew Guillermo are welcome to attend and celebrate Guillermo’s life alongside his family.
