

Harold proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. After working in various fields, he dedicated over 25 years to Raytheon Technologies in Andover, MA, where he retired as a Quality Control Engineer. He was also a successful pilot, flying instructor, and Special Police Officer for Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell, MA.
Besides being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Hal had a passion for traveling, adventure and life itself. He vacationed around the world and spread laughter and happiness wherever he went. Family and friends also celebrated his cheerful demeanor, since he hosted the Johnson Annual Cookout, and was known for his “award winning chili.”
He was a proud member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and other flying-related organizations. Harold was also a devout Catholic, and he graciously gave back to the community by donating to numerous charities.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Magnarelli) Johnson; son, Kevin Johnson; his brother William Johnson, and sister, Jacqueline Thureson. He is survived by his children, Michael Johnson and Charlene Dodge; his sister Viola Norkus; and his brothers, Charles Johnson and Ronald Johnson. In addition, he has eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. He will be missed dearly by all.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. A memorial service will be held the following morning at 11:00 am, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4450 County Road 579 Seffner, FL 33584. He will then be laid to rest with military honors at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd. Brandon, FL 33511. A private reception for close friends and family will follow.
