NEWLAND, Howard F. “Peanut”, 89, of Thonotosassa entered into rest May 21, 2016. Peanut was born and raised in Ohio where he retired from the railroad after 20 years. He then moved to Florida where he owned Peanut’s Mobile Home Transport and Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Bugle Corps. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the saxophone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Courson Newland; daughter, Connie Goldsmith. Survivors include his son, Howard Newland Jr.; daughters, Karen Brigmond, Cathy Jaffe (Benjamin), Bonnie Sharp (Gregory), Karla Denny (Brian), Kellie Weiser (Craig); 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice in Peanut’s memory.
