Iola “Ike” M. Wade, 84, of Valrico, passed away on July 18, 2018. Iola was born and raised in Indianola, Iowa. Her love of diving brought her to Florida along with her 4 children in the 70s. She started at Anheuser Busch Brewery in Tampa as the first woman brewer, then worked in other general labor positions throughout the brewery until retirement. Her diving career started out coaching and grew to include her diving internationally in the Master’s program with a championship in her 70s. Ike loved adventurous travel like white water rafting, cattle drives, hiking the Andes mountains, climbing Ayers Rock in Australia and so much more. She often shared the adventures with her daughter, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Iola is survived by her children, Mike Wade of Theresa, Wisconsin, Bill Wade (Patty) of Valrico, FL, Chuck Wade (Sharon) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Judy Wade of Valrico, FL; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Peter, Ryan, Ben, Bridgette, Eric, Gabrielle, Matthew, Brandon and Naomi; 4 great grandchildren. Iola was preceded in death by her brother Milford of Ackworth, IA; and is survived by her brothers Joe (Zatha) of Indianola, IA, Chuck of Polk City, IA, Marion (Velma) of St. Charles, MO, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, July 23, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm with Memorial Service at 7:00 pm at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W. Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida.
