I wish I had met Jack before he became ill. But I am warmed at the few times I was at their home, seeing his loving wife Toni so carefully tending to him, loving him and treasuring him during his last years. You are surrounded by those who knew him and will feel his legacy for many years to come. God bless you.

Dad,

Thanks for doing such a great job being mine and Ken's Dad. We are better men and Fathers for it. Being your son was a blessing. You were there for us when we needed guidance thru this thing called life. You were tough and kind at the same time. You showed us how to stand for our convictions & how important it is to do things correctly the first time.

I will always remember you bringing the family Snickers bars, rassslin' your big toe, playin "get away from me", family pizza or cold cut nites on payday, your snoring on the couch while watching TV, reading the paper & listening to the nightly news at the same time, telling us to go home & sit on the couch after climbing on the B52 in Guam, the post FB game advice, never missing an opportunity for a quality lecture, anti-love for the beach and cats, coming to mine Ken's & Tyler's FB games & lastly how much love you showed & gave Tyler & Katie while they were growing up. Your legacy will continue on thru them.

In the last 4-5 yrs your body started failing you due to your time spent in 'Nam. It was tough for you and your pride. You fought so hard though. It was tough to observe this and not being able to help. I prayed for you often. You still always laughed at jokes though. I enjoyed making you chuckle. Now your pain is gone & you dwell amongst the angels. Rest In Peace Dad. You will always be loved and missed.

Thank you for being a man we all loved and respected.

Love You,
Doug

Although Marcia and I had only a few opportunities to be with Jack and Toni, we had the best time sharing stories about Devyn and Tyler rooming together at UIW, the football team and their trials and tribulations, and Jack sharing Doug stories from long ago!!

We will miss his smile, his easy laughter, and his gentleness.

May God bless you Toni, and your family.

Jack was such a special man! I found myself thinking today about the gift he had to make you feel better after being in his presence. Jack and Toni have been so gracious to include me as part of their family and shown loving hospitality more times than I can count. I'm grateful to know you and will surely miss Jack! He was a really good man! Your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers.

My dad (Jack) was the man that God placed in my life to help raise me and to teach me life’s lessons in my youth. He was a strong man in his convictions, and he always stood by his word. He was an honorable man that sacrificed much to help raise my brother and I. I will always remember how his presence was always a strength and comfort to me in my time of need. I am a better man for having been raised by him. He will forever be missed and loved. He now walks with his Lord and savior that has taken all his pain away. Looking forward to a time when we will meet again in God’s kingdom to enjoy our eternity together.
God bless you dad,
Ken

To Toni and the Burkett family. Our hearts are just broken at the news of Jack's passing. We are so saddened. My wife, Peggy, and I send our deepest condolences. We have known Jack since 1965. He and I were stationed together in the US Air Force Security Police together at at Det #1, 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Byrd Field, Richmond, VA International Airport. We were together there from 1965 until sometime in 1967 or 1968. Jack was my supervisor, Flight Chief, there and I was his Communicator/Plotter. He was also my Best Man when Peggy and I married n April of 1966 in Carmel Church, VA. Jack was a great man, a man's man, straight up and straight forward. He did not pretend-Jack was the same with everyone,-polite, courteous and respectful. He loved God, his family and America. A twenty year plus veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Vietnam. He was fun to be around. Everyone loved him. He was a great Non Commissioned Officer, leader and supervisor. He helped me get promoted to the NCO ranks and was my mentor. His family can rightly be proud of him. We love you and miss you, Jack To Tony we say-"You made jack a great wife and wonderful companion. We know he loved and cherished you dearly. Trust in our Lord and he will see you through. "

Jack and Toni have been very special friends to us. We knew that no matter what time of day or night it was, if we needed their help in anyway they would be there without any questions or hesitation. You don't find friends like that anymore. Everyone is so busy with their own lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! Really enjoyed our trip to Vegas we took together; for the Dallas Cowboy Teaddy Bears you made for us, and the Sweatshirts you brought to us from your Cruise to Alaska. We LOVE and Miss you! But we will see you again in Gloryland.

Jack (aka My Boyfriend), you will surely be missed as you were loved and admired by many. Your smile would brighten up any room and as soon as you walked into a room, there was that beautiful bright smile and laughter. We shared so many laughs together standing around waiting for our routes to be ready at the pharmacy. All I had to do was look over at you and we would start laughing and at times we had to step outside because we were causing too much commotion. Those are the best and greatest memories and I will forever hold them close in my heart. You're truly one of a kind and a true friend to our family. The Preston family (Dan, Janet, Mitzie, John, Paula, Randy and our Mother (Agnes) will miss you tremendously. Until we meet again,

Rest In Peace My Friend, Rest In Peace
