Jack J. Jaggers, 87, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, on May 29, 2026. His life was defined by intelligence, curiosity, steadfast integrity, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Jack was born on September 13, 1938, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, the first of four children born to Judson Thomas and Maple Frances Jaggers. He graduated from Sonora High School in 1955 and that same year married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Joanne Fielder. Their marriage spanned 67 years, lasting until Beverly’s passing in 2022. Together, they built a rich and adventurous life, raising their three children and making homes in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois before eventually settling in Florida.
Jack carried with him the values of hard work, integrity, and quiet determination that shaped every chapter of his life. He spent most of his adult years in the insurance industry and earned the prestigious Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC) designation. He became the longtime owner of two insurance agencies—Insurance Corporation of America (ICA) in Orlando and Target Insurance in Brandon—where he was known for his honesty, dedication, and genuine care for the people he served. His sharp mind and lifelong commitment to learning were reflected in his proud membership in Mensa, a distinction that suited his quick wit and analytical nature.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Jack was an avid outdoorsman who felt most at home in nature. He found joy in golfing, boating, fishing, scuba diving, camping, and cheering on NASCAR. He embraced every opportunity to explore, adventure, and appreciate the world around him. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his love of discovery, and the thoughtful way he examined both people and the world. Over the years, he solved many of the world’s problems—at least in theory—while “pontificating” with family and friends. And to the delight of all who gathered around him, Jack possessed a remarkable gift for storytelling, holding listeners rapt with his humor, detail, and charm.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly F. Jaggers; his son, Jay S. Jaggers (Jeannine); his parents, Judson Thomas and Maple Francis Jaggers; and his brother, Michael V. Jaggers (Mary).
He is survived by his daughters, Vicki J. Vawter (Michael) and Valerie L. Lietz (Robert); and by his cherished grandchildren: Nicholas F. Lietz (Shea Kelly), Angela N. Foreman (Dave), Jonathan D. Vawter (Tawnya), and Joshua J. D. Vawter (Breanne Vawter). He was also blessed with six great grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and will carry forward his legacy with gratitude, pride, and enduring love.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens (2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511). Visitation with family and friends will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a short service at 3:00 PM, officiated by Mr. Michael Vawter. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jack’s life.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Kim Jaegers, Missy Ellington, and, more recently, Debbie Ponti, for their patient, kind, and loving care of Jack over the past several years.
Jack’s memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, learned from him, and shared in his many passions. He is missed already.
