James (Jim) Bryan Boatenhammer, JR of Sun City, Florida was surrounded by his family as he passed away peacefully on June 15, 2019. He was 72 years old and will be missed by all who loved him. As a long-time resident of the Tampa Bay area, Jim spent 39 years with his late wife and best friend, Donna Wygant Boatenhammer.
Jim was the eldest of three children to the late James Bryan Boatenhammer and Thelma Perrin Boatenhammer. He was born on February 13, 1947 in Jonesboro Arkansas. Jim was raised in a loving family with his late brother, Larry Boatenhammer and his surviving sister, Linda Boatenhammer Troupe and brother in law, Lee Troupe.
He is survived by his two children, David Boatenhammer and Kelly Boatenhammer Nelsen; Daughter in law, Mabelissa Boatenhammer; Son in Law, Gordon Nelsen; and three grandsons, Ethan (17), Owen (12), and Brylon (9) Boatenhammer.
Jim retired from a successful career of 43 years with the Polk County school system as an educator, coach, and administrator. Jim was an active member of the Bell Shoals Church of Christ in Valrico, Highlands Church of Christ in Lakeland, and recently, the Bay Area Church of Christ in Mango, FL. He was a devout Christian and was committed to his faith. He will forever be remembered by the countless friends and family who were touched by his love and friendship.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at the Lynn Church of Christ in Lynn, Arkansas on Monday, June, 24, 2019 at 11:00 am.Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at the Dry Creek Cemetery where he will be laid to rest alongside his family. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will also be held at the Bay Area Church of Christ on June 27, 2019 at 5:00PM.
