

James “Will” MacKay died unexpectedly on October 23, 2025 in Brandon, Florida at the age of 33. James is survived by his parents, Eileen Bonfiglio Carlson of Brandon, Florida, Curtis Carlson of Brandon, Florida and David MacKay of Largo, Florida, sibling, Daniel MacKay of Columbia, Maryland as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was engaged to be married to Christine Harrelson.
James was born on December 12, 1991 in Port Jefferson, New York to Eileen Bonfiglio Carlson and David MacKay. He graduated with honors from Boca Raton High School, Boca Raton, Florida in 2010 and went on to graduate cum laude from Indian River State College and then from the University of South Florida in 2015 with a degree in Psychology. James was accomplished at music, specifically as a drummer/guitarist/bass player and often performed in the Tampa Bay area with Phonomatrix and Must Not Kill. He was a generous, kind and fun loving individual who loved sci-fi (Star Wars, Back To The Future) and who was passionate about helping others.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2pm on November 9th, 2025 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida. The family will accept friends at 1pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate James’ life.
