I guess God needed him. My prayers are with Doreen and his family.

I worked with Jim for most of my 30 year career at Florida's Department of Health & Human Services.  As we all know too well, the work place can become stressful and unpleasant - especially when dealing with the public and within a government bureaucracy.

Jim was consistently forthright, hard-working, pleasant, and calm.  He was promoted several times throughout his career: starting out as a Social Worker, then a Supervisor, and last as a State Hearings Officer.  In each of his positions he was a positive influence on his co-workers, clients, and the public.

Although a little shy, Jim spoke of his wife and children often as well as his love of music and his church.  But unlike some people with strong religious convictions, he never tried to impose his beliefs on others.  He was one of the few who practiced his religion by deed and not by word.

James was truly a great family man who loved to worship Jesus. I was blessed to have been able to worship Jesus through music with James Travis. He was an awesome talent on the keyboard. He had the ability to make an average song amazing.We will miss James  but I am certain we will meet again because I know he loved and trusted Jesus Christ. Doreen we will be praying for you and your entire family. Keep the faith, may God the  Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit give you strength, love and understanding today and forever.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  I hope God is able to give you the strength you need during this difficult time.  Jim and I talked alot and I am so grateful for those talks.  He helped me with my religious conversion and inspired me to be a better Christian.  He was wonderful Christian who truly lived the teachings of Jesus.  I will miss you very much Jim!  You will always be in my prayers!

Jim Travis was a genuinely kind and caring man. His large family meant everything to him -- they even accompanied him to some of our work conferences, where his pride in and dedication to his wife and children was beautifully evident.  Jim had the kind of smile that made you feel completely at ease, and gentle, reassuring eyes. He was a fair and humble individual, who believed in doing the right thing simply because it was the right thing to do. I considered him my friend. 

I already miss you, Jim, and my heart cries for your family.

I have worked with Jim for over 10 years and when I think about him, I think he was truly the good guy.  He approached his job like life, be sure to do the right thing.  He loved his God and family first, and his job next.  He taught me so much.  I will miss his laugh, his stories, his joy, and his coffee.  His faith guided him and surely it guided him in this passage.  We will miss him greatly.

Great guy! I worked with him in fair hearings over the years. He was such an ethical and fair person in his job. I appreciate the family photos. His was obviously a life well lived. My condolences to the family.

May God grant you peace.  I worked as a fellow hearing officer with Jim for a few years   He was such a kind and intelligent man.   My husband would occasionally attend conferences and we both enjoyed lunch and dinner with Jim during those occasions.  He often spoke of his family with such pride and love.  We will think of   him in our prayers and know that there will always be fond memories of him everyday of your lives.  God bless you and your family.

Dear Travis Family, I am so sorry for you loss. I work with Jim for 5 years, he was always so funny and nice when ever we spoke. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord comfort you and your Family during the diffucult time.
