Janet Louise Martin

Janet is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Keith Martin; her daughters, Summer (Ryan) Stewart, Sarah (Bryan) Thatcher, and Sandy (Dylan) Hanna; her precious grandchildren, Lexi, Ava, Autumn, Landon, Leah, Lilly, Hudson, Hazel, and Luke; her mother, Patricia Trusheim, and her brothers, John Jr., Joe, Jeffrey and Jay. She was preceded in death by her father, John Trusheim, and her brother, Jimbo Trusheim.

Janet was born on February 16, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, to John and Patricia Trusheim. She grew up in a lively household with five brothers and plenty of animals, which undoubtedly helped prepare her for a lifetime surrounded by a busy family of her own. Her family moved from Maryland to Arkansas, where Janet later graduated from high school.

Janet eventually made her way to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida, where she met Keith, the great love of her life. The two went on their first date in April 1975 and never looked back. Even after 50 years, they simply loved doing life together.

Janet graduated from the University of Florida in 1978 with a degree in Finance. She and Keith married in 1981 and later settled in Tampa, where Janet began a successful career with GTE, later Verizon, serving as a Manager of Credit.

Together, Janet and Keith built a life filled with family, laughter, travel, Bucs games, beach days, pinball, and, above all, time together. Janet rarely missed an event involving one of her grandchildren and could often be found happily shuttling them from one activity to the next. No matter how busy life became, she somehow managed to do it all with a smile.

Janet was the family's problem solver and the one person everyone called when they didn't know what to do. She always seemed to have an answer, a plan, or simply a willingness to help in whatever way was needed. She was endlessly generous with her time and love and had a remarkable way of making her family feel cared for.

Janet often said that Keith had spent so many years doing everything he could for her and their daughters that, once they retired, it was her turn to return the favor. She promised to travel the country with him in their camper and she did. Together, they enjoyed many wonderful adventures, seeing new places and making memories that Keith and their family will treasure forever.

Of all the roles Janet held throughout her life, none meant more to her than being a wife, mother, and Nana. Her three daughters will remember her as the most loving and selfless mother they could have asked for, and her grandchildren will remember a Nana who always showed up for the big moments and the ordinary ones. She loved her family fiercely, and being surrounded by them was truly her greatest joy.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, September 28th from 5pm to 7pm at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W. Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida 33511.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29th at 10:30am at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida 33511, where Janet was a dedicated parishioner. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 10668 E. Sligh Avenue, Seffner, Florida 33584.

Following the interment, family and friends are invited to continue celebrating Janet's life at River Hills Country Club, 3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico, Florida 33596.
