

Born November 20, 1934 in Tampa, Florida, John graduated from Jefferson High School in Tampa and went on to receive his degree in education from The University of Tampa.
He was a teacher in Hillsborough County from 1957-1964 and became a site-based school administrator from 1964-1995 when he retired after 38 years of service. John mentored numerous aspiring administrators in helping them achieve their goals and careers.
John was an avid quail hunter. He was a sports enthusiast and was a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan since their inception.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonardo and Guistina Alfano and one son Michael Wonka, who is deceased. Survivors include his loving wife Yvonne, daughter Lora Wonka-Watson (Andy), niece Christine Arnold and husband Vernie and Godson Trey Arnold as well as Paul and Frances DeMeza and other loving family members.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 20, 2016 from 11:00-1:00 with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Stowers Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the L’Unione Italiana Cemetery Tampa.
