Captain John Martin Haney

John worked as a tugboat captain for more than 35 years and was passionate about his time on the water. However, John’s true passion was his family and he cherished every second that he would spend with his children, his grandchildren, and his wife. John never met a stranger and treated every person he met with the utmost compassion, kindness, generosity, and respect. Quick witted and always quick with a joke, John had the ability to make those around him laugh and feel at home in his company.

John leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda Haney; son, John “Brian” Haney (wife Paula); daughters, Stacey Alderson (husband Mark) and Kristy Haney (fiancée Bryan Cohn); brother, Ray Corley; sister, Susan Corley and Grandkids, Austin, Sheyanne, Lance, Brayden, Kayleigh and Jada. He also leaves behind an innumerable amount of family and friends who were deeply touched by his presence, his friendship, and his love.

A celebration of Captain John’s life will take place at 5pm on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home of Brandon; family will start receiving guests at 3pm
