HOOD, John Carter, 61, of Valrico entered into rest in his home on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 after a year long battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. John was born on March 9, 1950 in Daytona Beach, Florida to the late James C. and Doris G. Williams Hood. John was an avid fisherman, loved watching NASCAR Races, going to the Hard Rock Casino, and playing scratch-off tickets. Those left to cherish John’s memory include his wife of 29 years, Cheryl Myers; son, David Horton Hood (Angie); brother, Jerry Hood (Laura) ; sister, Janice Hood Shogaa (Mohamed); grandchildren, Jessie, Destiny, Patience, Damian; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Bella; nieces, Krystal, Missy and Savannah; nephew, T.L.; great-nephew, JR.; great-niece, Gabby; mother-in-law, Sharon Ratliff; four legged daughter, Mia; and an extended loving family, friends and fishing buddies. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM with visitation from 10AM-11AM, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by John’s Best Friend Bishop Ike Andrew. Interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
