

John Andrew Selembo, 76, was surrounded by his loving family when he peacefully went home to be with our LORD and SAVIOUR on April 9, 2016 after a valiant 5 year battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
John is survived by his wife, Joy of 26 years; his Mother Louise M Selembo (Riverview); children John Rogstad (Sheryl), Tobi Mondejar (Rene‘), Debi Folkman (Ken) , David Selembo (Janelle), Teresa Henderson (Richard) and Lori Rodriguez (Joseph) ; sister Louise Schultheis; as well as 19 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren, he is preceded in death by his Father, John Selembo. John was born on August 2, 1939 in Greensboro, PA and then moved to Florida after graduating from Valley Forge Military Academy. Education was very important to John, he attended and graduated from the University of Tampa while working full time and raising three children. John was a highly accomplished salesman with NCR/AT&T receiving many awards including President’s Club. Other successes include ownership of multiple business; Baskin Robbins in Brandon, Document Imaging Service, Sarasota, Evaluation Management Services, Valrico. After retiring in 1991 he became a licensed mortgage broker and highly sought after business consultant and worked part-time at Little Harbor Marina in Ruskin, FL. John was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Joy, on August 26, 1989 in Brandon, FL. John and Joy’s marriage was based on their unwavering faith in God. They are longtime members of Bell Shoals Baptist Church where they were married.
John enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, traveling and loved sports. But his true passion in life was his family. As a Father and Grandpap he was always there with words of wisdom, compassion, love generosity and support. John had a larger than life sense of humor, his wittiness bringing a smile to everyone he met. John’s legacy is his love for his family and his faith in God. His Celebration of Life Services will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Bell Shoals Baptist Church (Chapel}, Bell Shoals Rd, Brandon, FL 33511 with a Visitation one hour prior to service followed by a reception at his home.
