Born on July 17, 1947, Joseph lived a life defined by service, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a long and honorable career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked faithfully for many years.
Joseph was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Erlinda Simmons. Together they built a family that was the center of his life. He was a loving father to Joe, Terry, and Victoria, and a proud grandfather to TJ, Elijah, Asiah, Zion, Shiloh, and Grace. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever.
Outside of work, Joseph enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time being on the water fishing, and enjoying the excitement of the car races. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply being present for those he loved, Joseph had a quiet strength and kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Erlinda Simmons and his parents, Joseph and June Simmons.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, steadfast faithfulness to his family, and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. Family and friends are invited to attend as they gather to celebrate Joseph’s life, honor his service to his country, and bid him a loving farewell.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
