Juanita Ortiz

Dedicated Wife, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother Juanita Ortiz-Mendez de Viera, age 93, of Tampa, FL, passed into God's hands on April 12, 2015. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and love! Juanita or as she was affectionately known to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, Ñañi, was born March 8, 1922 in Gurabo, PR to Rosa Mendez and Alfonso Ortiz. She had 7 sisters and 6 brothers. For many years she was a member and contributor of the Exchange Club of Puerto Rico, Women’s Civic Club of Puerto Rico, Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She is survived by her daughter Nilsa Viera-Roque and husband Francisco Roque, her son Raul Viera and wife Pilar Viera, and son Manuel Viera and wife Martha Viera. She has 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 44 years, Leonardo (Nolo) Viera, one sister, and 2 brothers. At her request, there will only be a memorial Mass at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church located at 9715 N. 56th St. Tampa, FL 33617. A small reception will follow in the church’s social hall.
