Judy Kelly was a mother, wife, aunt, grandma, friend and force of nature!
She was born and raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. A graduate of Pace University,
she was bright and vivacious, with a quick mind for math and numbers. Judy built a very
successful career as an accountant, working for St. Clare Academy in Hastings and St. Agnes
Hospital in White Plains, New York.
Judy married her first husband, Richie Genshino in 1978, and gave birth to her beloved son,
Pete, in 1980. They relocated to Florida several years later, where she obtained a position as
Senior Vice-President and Treasurer of Kforce, a technology and accounting staffing firm in
Tampa, Florida.
Judy was a proud and stubborn New Yorker who might have made her home in Florida, but
insisted throughout her life that the New York Yankees ruled baseball, no matter their standing.
After her first marriage dissolved in 1996, Judy met the love of her life, Bill Kelly, in an unlikely
place - both volunteering at a bingo hall for Pete’s school. They soon formed a friendship and
relationship that would become the foundation of Judy’s life.
Judy - smart, funny, loud, and very opinionated - fit right in with the Kelly clan, where she gained
an instant extended family and three more grown children. “Dino" and “Maggie,” as Bill and Judy
called themselves, tied the knot in 2005, and were married until Bill’s death in August 2017.
Judy befriended everyone in her path. She kept up with their lives, asked about their families,
cracked jokes and gave good advice. She was a doting and generous friend and mentor to
many.
After Bill died, Judy threw herself into hospice counseling, and soon found herself leading
several grief groups, helping them process their losses. There she met Don Campbell, who had
also recently lost his beloved wife Beth. Judy and Don believed they were brought together by
God to weather their storms and help each other find meaning and love again. Don brought
great joy and comfort to Judy's last years.
The light of Judy’s life were her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. “Grandma JuJu” delighted
in spending time with them, celebrating milestones, helping with problems and bragging about
them any chance she could.
She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and ever-present laugh, and her fierce devotion
to her family and those she loved.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her son Pete Genshino, daughters Kristine and
Natasha Kelly, “superstar” grandchildren Stevie and Kelston Salagaras and Wren and Finnian
Peplow, her “princesses” Jen Schnibbe Driggers and Emma Driggers, her wide circle of family
and friends, and her loving companion, Don Campbell.
