Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, Kathryn spent her youth in the suburbs of Chicago before eventually settling in Brandon, where she became a longtime resident and built a life centered around her family, faith, and community.
Known to those who loved her as Kathy, she was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and spent much of her life working in education, homemaking, and volunteering. She took great pride in creating a loving home and making every holiday and family gathering special. Her greatest joy was her family, and she will be remembered for the love, strength, and devotion she gave to those around her.
As a young woman, Kathy was a championship horseback rider and talented musician, passions that reflected her determination, creativity, and spirited personality.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Hamm; daughter, Kayla Clarkson (Jonathan); son, Matthew Hamm; and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, and Matthew Clarkson, who brought her immeasurable joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Hammond and Kay Hammond; brother, Robert Hammond.
Kathy will be remembered most for her fierce love of her family, her generous spirit, and the extraordinary strength she showed throughout years of illness. She found strength in her faith and often held close the words of Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.
A Celebration of Life for Kathy will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
May she rest in eternal peace.
