Jarvi, Kayo A., 88, residing in Plant City, Florida since 1993, formerly of DeKalb, Illinois passed away peacefully on Sunday, 12, 2010. Born to Ida and Frank Jarvi in DeKalb, Illnois on February 21, 1922. Graduate of DeKalb High School, attended Suomi College in Hancock, MI and was a Navy Veteran of WWII and Korea. Kayo was predeceased in death by his parents, 1 sister Elna Jarvi, and 2 brothers Jens and Toimi Jarvi. Survived by his wife of 64 years Nellie Clark Jarvi; daughters Claudia (Bob) Blaylock of Lexington, KY and Celia (Rudy) Taylor of Overland Park, KS; granddaughters Megan Andrews of Memphis, TN and Macy Andrews of Smyrna, Georgia; grandsons by marriage Ian Blaylock of Bowling Green, KY, Jason Taylor and Rudy Taylor Jr. of Minneapolis, MN; sister Elma Niemi of Hope, Rhode Island and several nieces and nephews, cousins in Finland and countless friends. Service of at First Baptist Church of DeKalb, Illinois, Saturday, September 18, at 3:00 PM, visitation preceding. He was known as the “Duke”.
