Kenneth Franklin Clark, (“Ken”, “Bubba”, “Super“) went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 6, at the age of 86. He passed peacefully in his home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Ken was born on May 31, 1937, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His family moved from Arkansas to Kalamazoo, Michigan when he was 4 months old, it was there that he spent his formative years with his father and mother.
Ken accepted the Lord as his Savior when he was 12 years old, which was his anchor for his life. In 1955, he graduated from Central High School in Kalamazoo. After high school, he enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Wasp (CVS-18) as a Boiler Tender, from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1961.
Shortly after serving his country, Ken married the love of his life, Sandra, in June of 1961, where he then established residency in Valrico, Florida, and raised a family. He loved to go camping and fishing with his family when the children were young, and he also enjoyed visiting family and friends in other states.
Ken had a few jobs, including the mines, but his main job was being a switchman for Seaboard Coastline which became CSX railroad. He had to retire early after working there for only 24 years, due to medical reasons. He established many lifelong friends on the railroad, and loved telling stories about the time he spent working with them. After his retirement, he and Sandra traveled the United States, enjoying the sights and meeting new people.
Anyone who met Ken loved him. He was kind, compassionate, and never met a stranger. He loved visiting and talking with his family and neighbors, and making people laugh.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of 62 years, his daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Potts, his son, John (Julie) Clark, his granddaughter, Kayla, his grandson, Joshua, and his brother Jim (Inok) Clark. He also had several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Clark, his mother, Violet Clark, his sister Della Brown, and his granddaughter, Danielle.
Ken will be greatly missed, but we celebrate the time we had with him here and look forward to seeing him again in heaven, as we know he just went home and is in the presence of the Lord!
