A Tampa native, Ken was born on July 1, 1953, at MacDill Air Force Base, and graduated from King High School. His lifelong commitment to service began immediately after high school when he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served four years active duty, which included deployment to Vietnam. Following his active service, Ken continued his military dedication with the Naval Reserves where he was recalled to active duty for Operation Desert Storm. He retired from the USNR as a Chief Petty Officer with a combined total of over 20 years of service.
Ken continued to serve his community as a mechanic with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired after 25 years.
Following his retirement, Ken found peace and joy spending time with his wife caring for their two horses.
To those who knew him best, Ken could be stubborn and contrary, but beneath his tough exterior was a big teddy bear who always provided for his family.
He loved being Papaw to his “little monsters” who brought him so much happiness and pride. He truly cherished each moment watching them grow.
