Leo Johnson, 86, went home to be with his Lord on January 1, 2018, A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved his family and the time spent together with them. Always kind hearted, he would often put others before himself. Born in Kentucky, he spent his youth working the family farm. Hard work was no stranger to him. He did what he had to do make it in life. Through hard work and a strong will to get ahead he would find his success. He found the love of his life while living in Detroit where he met and married Naomi Hibbard his beloved wife of 61 years. Over the years, Leo would work, as a grocery store clerk and a delivery driver often spending more time at work then at home. He was called upon to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Army and spent his time proudly serving his country in Korea during the Korean Conflict, quickly rising up in rank to earn his sergeant’s stripes. He returned home and continued on with his life. A life that would bring him to Florida, He ran his own gas station and garage. He settled down in Riverview, Florida. He was a founding member of the Grace Gospel Church in Gibsonton. He worked for and retired with great pride from Commercial Carrier after 35 years of service this included being brought out of retirement on several occasions. He was proud of his driving record, 3 million miles accident free. He was an independent owner/operator for many years. He was the proud father, His daughter Malynda “Lynne” Johnson McCabe (Tom), and his son Howard “Michael” Johnson (Darlene) Grandchildren; Jeffrey Allen Ramey (Amanda), Jessica Lynn Mordue (Steve), Tiffany Michelle Johnson, great grandchildren; Shelbi Lynn Ramey, Hunter Randall Harris, Kaylee Lynn Dempsey, Arianna Grace Johnson, Abigail Katherine Ramey, Autumn Lanae Stuart, Alexander Dean Stuart and Anthony Michael Stuart. Leo was a man of principles; he lived his life for others. His strength had no limits, his determination had no boundaries his love for his family and friends was endless. Hard and tough when he had to be, kind and gentle was his nature. Leo touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all.
