Born on April 8, 1944, in Mabalacat, Pampanga, Philippines, Lolita lived a life marked by strength, devotion, and quiet resilience. Her life changed when she met a young U.S. Air Force serviceman, Otto Tamplin, in the Philippines. Their love brought her across the world to the United States, where she worked in manufacturing, and built a steady life through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She later retired in Florida, where she remained close to those she loved.
Lolita was a proud mother and grandmother to her children: Arcely Downey (Larry), Elenna Tamplin, her twin sons, Michael Tamplin and William Tamplin; and to her granddaughter, Natalie Downey.
She embraced life’s simple pleasures — savoring Michael’s coffee, enjoying pineapple on pizza without hesitation, and never turning down a chance to go out for ribs. She cherished her heritage and played a significant role in helping her mother, brothers, and sister begin new lives in the United States. Her generosity and loyalty stretched across continents and generations. She was a spirited, energetic woman who loved to socialize with friends from the gym and church.
Lolita is survived by her siblings: Efren Pineda (Marlene),Macario Pineda (Ely) Melchor Pineda, and Consolacion Stubbs (Danny); nieces Maria Elizabeth Trujillo-Davis (Derrick) and Kristine Trujillo (Gloria); nephew Sean Pineda (Ruth), and many extended family members who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Tamplin, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage; her parents, Leonardo and Gloria Pineda; her grandson, Tony Downey; and her sister, Redenta Cabuso.
Lolita lived with dignity, steady love, and a commitment to family that never wavered. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
