
GARCIA, Louis “Coach”, 86, of Valrico, FL, died on October 23, 2015. Coach Garcia was predeceased by his parents Luis and Carmen Garcia and is survived by his wife Mary Garcia, sons Louis A. Garcia, William M. Garcia (Pennye) and Anthony J. Garcia (Donna), grandchildren Nick, Sam, Kara, Michael, Kristi, Halle and great grandchildren Kaylee, Gavin and Ellie. Coach Garcia was Catholic by faith; was a Teacher in Hillsborough County for 30 years; a U.F. basketball & baseball player; guided 1970 Colt League All-Stars to 2nd in the world, guided 1975 Pony League All-Stars to 5th in the world, coached Baseball at Robinson High to win state runner-up in 1969 & Champions in 1971; coached baseball at HCC for 9 years; played semi-pro Intersocial League & won state title 7 times & 2nd in the world; in 1977 he lead Team Tampa Smolkers to 7th in the world and won state title; he was a professional baseball scout for the N.Y. Yankees, Cubs &Royals; inducted into the hall of fame in Hillsborough H.S. and in 2006 Robinson H.S. dedicated the baseball field to him. Visitation will be Wed., October 28, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m., with funeral service on Thurs., October 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., both at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, FL. The family requests dress to be casual or in N.Y. Yankee attire. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alzinfo.org
