BLACKMAN, Lynda Lee, 61, of Seffner, FL, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 12, 2018. Survived by husband James R. Blackman, and daughter, Elizabeth Anne.
She was born of November 20, 1956, in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her parents Dr. Robert Moore and Rosalee Waller Moore raised Lynda and her late sister Marilyn and her late brother Richard. Dr. Moore was in the Public Health Service during the early 60s. were they traveled to live on a quarantine station on Fisher Island Florida in early 1961.
Lynda was a devoted wife of 26 years and loved missions work, were her travels took her to the primitive jungles of Indonesia, Poland, Russia, Ukraine. She was a VOM volunteer, she worked with Open Doors and Slavic Gospels Association bringing awareness to the persecuted church. She also supported Bibles for Russia in their important work to support and help the churches there.
Lynda Graduated from Plant High School and later, Shenandoah College, were she attained her RN degree. She work at the James Haley VA Hospital in the spinal cord rehab, before going on to a position of quality assessments. She also worked as an in home care provider.
Lynda's interest were diverse. She loved all things outdoors. She was an avid deep sea angler, would scuba dive and was just thrilled with wildlife. She loved bears, dogs, and especially turtles. She loved going to the beach, and distance swimming.
She attended Grace Baptist Church and had a heart for missions. She attended the Women's group and her last venture was learning to sign before her sickness.
Her smile could light a room. She loved children and always had time to listen. She was a substitute teacher and would fascinate the class with her many travel stories and experiences. She will be very missed in the class rooms.
