Mack "PeeWee" Lee Freeman

Mack is survived by his wife, Michelle Dix-Freeman; children, Tina Brevard (Reginald Sr.), Mack Freeman Jr. (Christi), Shemika Freeman, Stacey Massey (Francoir); step daughter, Wendy Dix; siblings, Mary “Mae” Hornsby, Andreatha Freeman-Nurse, Tracy Freeman-Pierce (Wanda), Frederick Freeman (Melissa); mother-in-law, Flora Rains; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by parents, Lillie Mae and Fred Freeman; siblings, Mary Ann Young, Phillip Lee Freeman, Beverly “Cookie” Ann Freeman, Theresa Ray Freeman, and Leonard “Nard” Freeman.

Mack was born on August 23, 1953 in St. Petersburg, FL to Lillie Mae Early and Fred Freeman. He graduated from Middleton High School in Tampa, FL and proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving with honor in the Infantry Branch. A true defender of freedom, his military career took him across the globe with deployments to Korea, Panama, and three separate tours in Germany, alongside numerous Rapid Response missions. Ever committed to self-improvement, he earned his associate degree and masterfully learned to speak fluent German during his time overseas. Throughout his years of service, his stellar performance, natural leadership, and unwavering dedication earned him numerous awards and deep respect from his peers. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice, bravery, and profound patriotism that his family will forever cherish. Following his distinguished military career, he brought that same work ethic and dedication to his community, spending seven years working faithfully for the Coca-Cola Company.

Known to all as a wonderfully humorous individual, Mack loved to fish, cook, play gentle tricks, and make unforgettable faces just to hear people laugh. His joy for life was matched only by his passionate heart for helping others. He spent many years volunteering his time with the Hillsborough County Special Olympics and Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.

Mack’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was an active and dedicated member of the Grace of God Missionary Baptist Church, where he shared a deeply special bond with the pastor, Elder Frederick E. Thomas. He truly loved his church family and will always be remembered as a joyful steward of service.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, 2323 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, FL 33511. A Viewing will occur from 1:00-1:55 pm and the Service will begin promptly at 2:00 pm. A repass will follow the service at: 6812 East Ida Street, Tampa, FL 33610.
