Macon Forrest Swinson, Sr., 86, of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully at home on December 18th. Forrest was born on August 18, 1934 to Macon and Ruby Swinson in Beuatancus, North Carolina. A military veteran, he served in the US Army at Ft. McNair in Washington DC, then a member of the National Guard in Wilmington, North Carolina where he met his bride, Emily Elkins Swinson. After his military service, he started a 35-year career with CSX Railroad then worked at Smalley's Transportation until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emily, their son, Macon Forrest, Jr. of Tampa, their daughter, Terry Prado of Tampa, and their daughter, Melinda Pascua, of Tampa, six grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janet and brother, Hilbert.
A memorial service will take place at Hillsborough United Methodist Church in Tampa on January 9th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in his memory and in honor of his wife, Emily, to the Alzheimer's Association.
