Margaret "Peggy" Thornton

Margaret “Peggy” Thornton, 84, of Brandon, passed away February 27, 2011, at her home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Vincent; her brother, Robert Patton Jr. and her parents, Robert and Irene Patton. She is survived by daughters,

Lynda Matus of Alabama, Janice Thornton of Tampa; sons, Jon Thornton (wife Dj) of Brandon, Steven Thornton (Rose Ausburn) of Sun City; grandchildren, Jennifer Ritter, Matthew and Katie Thornton; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Thorne and Julian Davis; and beloved niece and nephews. Peggy was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on January 19, 1927 but grew up in Daytona Beach and Deland, Fla. She met Vincent while he was attending Law School at Stetson and upon their marriage in 1952, moved to South Tampa to raise their family. While in South Tampa, Peggy was active in the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church and Palma Ceia Garden Club. She was a supportive and caring wife and mother. Family came first for Peggy and she will be dearly missed by her family and beloved friends. A memorial service will take place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2011 at Stowers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsborough County Animal Services Donation Fund.
