

Mary Irene Falanga, 97, passed peacefully in her sleep on December 7, 2025, in Riverview, FL. Mary was born January 19, 1928 in Miami, FL to Samuel Power and Annie Bettis, and was lovingly raised by her mother and step-father, Angel Suarez. She married Alfonso Falanga September 29, 1946 and resided in Gloversville, NY. She worked at the Gloversville High School cafeteria a few years, and then Grandoe Gloves. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a volunteer for Gloversville Little League Baseball. She was an active volunteer in the Republican Party, through which she was an associate of NY Governor Nelson Rockefeller and Georgia Governor Lester Maddox. After retirement she and her husband Alfonso moved to Rockledge, FL.
She was predeceased by her husband Alfonso in 2014; son Robert (Cindy) of Atlanta, GA, in 2024; and grandson Todd of Valrico, FL in 2021. She is survived by two sons: Joseph (Bonnie) of Valrico, FL; and Louis (Judy) of Rochester, NY; cousin Tom Garofalo (Janet) of Gloversville, NY; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held on December 29 at 11am at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Valrico, FL. In Summer 2026 a Mass will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville, NY, with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Lifepath Hospice 12470 Telecom Dr, Suite 301, Tampa, FL 33637; or Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 South Main St, Gloversville, NY 12078.
