It is so hard to believe that it has been a year since my brother went home!

What can I say about the best Big Brother in the whole world!

Yes, Mike was my big brother; he was four years older than me and two years younger than Donna. As we grew older I was just old enough to be a pest, so anytime Mike went off with his friends, I wanted to tag-a-long. Little brothers are good at that! I remember one time in particular, momma was at the front door on Dade street, Mike was on the porch and he was just about to leave with a friend when I said, “hey, I want to go too”. Mike was so mad because he had almost got away without me knowing. Mike said “NO”, in a stern voice. I stepped out from behind momma and hit him right in the nose, then took off running for my life. Mike really wasn’t mad at me; in fact I think we grew closer every day. Of course I apologized to him, and promised to never do that again.  Mike was always watching out for me, kind of like a guardian angel. As time went by we shared many moments and outings together and he introduced me to many of his friends such as: Larry Kellogg; Debra Carter; Mitchell Pullum; Robert Johnson; Rodney Youngblood; Jimmy Whitehead; and many more.  My Big Brother, with a heart of gold, is missed but I know exactly where he is. All I have to do is look up and know my angel is still watching over me from heaven.

Michael, was saddened to hear of your passing.  Sorry to have lost touch with you and your family over the years, but have thought about y'all often.  Have great memories of all of us growing up in Jordan Place during the 50's and 60's.  Remember playing chess with you on the front lawn after you got run over by the car on our way to school that morning.  Will never forget seeing the imprints of those tire tracks on the back of your legs.  Can still hear your mom, Inez, calling you one by one as she stood on the front porch:  "Donna Marie, Michael Lewis, and Kenneth Dale, you better get yourself home."  Remembering your family and friends in prayer.  RIP,  good friend.  

I had the pleasure of working with Mike as his case manager the past few years.  He always greeted me with a big smile and kissed my hand.  He was a character and he always loved his snacks.  I will miss him!

I had the pleasure of caring for him years ago. He has gained his wings. My condolences to his family.



Michael - I cannot cry at your passing , as I believe that the real Michael Copeland left many years ago, upon your injury.  I do mourn for your daughter now, as with your departure, she has neither her mother nor the man she called ‘father.‘ I’m sure you were a blessing in her life,  just as she was to you.
Their devotion to your care, spoke volumes about the love you inspired in Trish and then Maggie, your ‘champions.’

You have left behind a lasting memory for me: I picture your face and cheerful demeanor, as I think of that old fashioned term, ‘gentleman.’

I was never a fan of sports, much less football. But Sundays with Mr. Copeland meant we were watching football. He and I bonded through touchdowns and missed passes. It was a real pleasure to care for and spend time with such a passionate person. He is and will forever be missed.

Mr copeland was a kind structured independent man. It was truly my pleasure to spend time working with him he left a lasting memory. " now i watch all the old westerns , answer im fantastic " when ask how im doing.
My condolences

Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.  Nothing will ever take away the memories I have with  Mr. Copeland. I always consider him as my big brother. I am truly happy that I got the chance to be one of his caregivers. May his soul rest in peace and be a blessing.

What an amazing person!    I feel privileged  that i got to know him and to be his caregiver. I will miss that Beautiful smile and his way to say "FANTASTIC" I am so honored to have know him! He will be missed !

Mike was such a wonderful person. Our memories are of a gentle, kind, and selfless man. He had a heart of gold, a smile that would brighten your day, and a quick wit that was sure to make you laugh.
