Michael Robert Tenay

Born on November 25, 1945, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mike dedicated 22 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force. During his distinguished military career, he proudly served in England, Germany, Thailand, and Korea before retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant. His service reflected the values that defined his life—honor, loyalty, dedication, and quiet strength.

While stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire, Mike met the love of his life and best friend, Lorraine, in nearby Kittery, Maine. They were married in 1973 and spent more than five decades building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. After retiring from the Air Force, they settled in Brandon, Florida, where they embraced the Florida lifestyle and created countless cherished memories together, including many cruises they enjoyed over the years.

Mike was a proud and loyal member of the American Legion and was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and laughter. He had a lifelong love of The Beatles, woodworking, NASCAR, his beloved Corvette, and everything Star Trek. In true Mike fashion, he often joked that he wanted to be launched into space after his passing—and his family intends to honor that unique wish one day.

Anyone who knew Mike knew he had an incredible sense of humor. No one could tell a joke quite like he could. His daughter often found herself laughing long before he reached the punchline because his delivery alone was unforgettable. He also loved karaoke and encouraged his daughter to sing, always reminding her that it "builds character." That encouragement became a gift that lives on, as both his daughter and granddaughter still love to sing and can put on quite a show.

Above all, Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lorraine Tenay; his loving daughter, Christine Tenay; his cherished granddaughter, Katherine Drake; his nephews, Stephen Tenay, Kenneth Tenay, Richard Tenay, and Alan Tenay, all of Texas; his nephew, Christian Tenay of Florida; his nieces, Darlene Parker of Texas and Lori Klein of South Carolina; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Mike's legacy is one of service, unwavering love for his family, laughter that could fill a room, and a life lived with integrity and heart. Though his physical presence is gone, the lessons he taught, the songs he inspired, the jokes he shared, and the memories he created will live on in all who loved him.

At Mike's request, there will be no formal services at this time.

His family takes comfort in knowing that his journey continues beyond this life and imagines him finally at peace—perhaps exploring the final frontier he always dreamed about. Until we meet again, your laughter, your love, and your spirit will remain with us always.
