

VAN HORN, Molly Jean Freels, was born at home in Lincoln Park, Michigan to Wade and Wadena Freels on her mother’s birthday September 16, 1936. She graduated from high school at Trenton and completed two years at state. Molly married her high school sweetheart Millard Dickey and that union produced four sons, Mark (Michelle) Dickey, Mike (Trish) Dickey, Matt (Ella) Dickey, and Marty (Chris) Dickey. Widowed at a young age, Molly later married Edward Van Horn on June 15, 1968, who had two daughters, Candy (Barry) Greer and Sunny (Mike) Ploch. Together, Molly and Ed had a daughter who was born at home, Annie (Craig) Lightsey. Molly was an avid golfer and member for over 30 years of Buckhorn Springs Golf and Country Club. She started a family business, Community Jewelry and Pawn. She loved to remodel and decorate her home and loved and enjoyed family get-togethers which were her joy and peace in life. She was a loving and mentoring person to family and friends who all knew her. Molly succumbed to complications due to hepatitis liver failure on February 11, 2014. She is survived by all of her children; husband, Edward; sister, Wayetta Stevens; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed. A memorial service will take place at the home of Molly and Edward on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Molly’s name may be made to LifePath Hospice.
