The football fieldhouse is named after James, and they both received the coveted “Mr. Eagle” award recognizing their many years of service and dedication to BHS and the community. Nancy taught kindergarten for decades at the First United Methodist Church. Through the years of teaching and her community involvement Nancy made many, many friends.

Mrs. Burnett was my son's kindergarten teacher 25 years ago. We both thought very highly of her. Mrs Burnett always remembered me & Danny at church, even many years later! It was always a pleasure to see her sweet smiling face! I was pleased to be chosen her Friendly Visitor for our church. I learned more about her and we always had nice visits. She will be missed by many!
My condolences to all of the Burnett family. The beautiful person, inside & out, Mrs. Burnett was, I am sure she has a beautiful family that will deeply miss her. You all have been and are in my thoughts & prayers. May all your wonderful memories sustain you & knowing that your mother/grandmother is comfortably resting in her heavenly home bring you comfort.

Growing up at FUMC Brandon I remember Mrs. Burnett always there with kind words and a beautiful smile . She was, like for many, my Kindergarten teacher. who helped instill a love of learning and of God in me. I remember on occasion as a teenager visiting with her in her classroom at church, helping her and listening to stories she would tell me about my older brothers, whom she had taught as well. My condolences to her family and thoughts and prayers. Mrs. Burnett, you were one in a million.

Mrs. Burnett was a wonderful lady. She was Michelle and Ashley's Kg teacher. We had already loved her before that though. We knew her from her involvement with Brandon High School and FUMC. She was always so kind to everyone. I called to tell my Dad, Orlan Briant, and he said he was sad to hear that. Mr and Mrs. Burnett were good people. He started telling me about stories about BHS and the Burnetts. Dad said, they raised 3 fine young men and those boys had great parents. He sends his condolences to Mike, Ken and their families. We will keep your families in our prayers.

I am truly sorry that Mrs. Burnett has passed on. She has a special place in my heart as our Overhill Drive neighborhood "Mom". Always a smile , always a kind word. The back kitchen door was always open to us and their house and yard was the center of our childhood.
Thank you Mrs. Burnett for being you. Bless you Mike , Yvonne , Ken and family.
