Nestor went by the nickname Chick, like his father. Chick served in the United States Army as a parachute rigger in the 82nd Airborne. He received the Parachute Badge and the National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge from military service, Chick was a milkman, a boat salesman, owned and operated a produce stand, owned and operated Ruth’s Steakhouse in Riverview, and eventually became a long haul truck driver. Chick loved to play golf and was an avid football fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Florida Gators. Chick loved boating and fishing, and was an expert at preparing the seafood he caught. Chick was a family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nestor was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Crisp; father, Leo Crisp; and baby brother, Ray Crisp. He is survived by his wife, Diane Velasco; children, Kenneth Velasco, Wesley Velasco, and Maria Velasco, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Moffitt Cancer Center, Gulfside Hospice, Dr. Jacqui Dawson, and Dr. Sully, John Sullebarger.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
