Norman was predeceased in death by his parents, Neal & Mable McMillan, his brother, Ralph McMillan. Norman is survived by his wife of 62 years, (Virginia) Lynn McMillan, sister Darlene Pullaro, Sons Mark McMillan (Tina), David McMillan (Susie) and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norman was born on November 1, 1944 to Neal & Mable in Tampa, Florida. After graduating from Brandon High School in 1963, he began working for Seabord Railroad. He joined the US Army in January of 1964, married Lynn Reel in May of 1964, and left for Korea in June of 1964. He was a dog handler in the Military Police. After serving his country, Norman continued working for CSX Railroad as well as part-time reserve deputy sheriff for Hillsborough County.
In 1968, he & Lynn became parents to Mark, and then in 1971 to David. A lot of life happened after!
After retiring in 2005, Norman spent all of his time loving his wife, sister, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and COOKING!
One of his favorite recipes:
Apple Dapple Cake (CRACK CAKE) Ingredients
•3 eggs
•2 cups sugar
•1 1/4 To 1 1/2 cups salad oil
•3 cups all - purpose flour
•1 teaspoon salt
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•1 teaspoon cinnamon
•1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
•2 teaspoons vanilla
•3 cups chopped apples
•1 cup chopped pecans
Directions
•Mix eggs, oil and sugar, blend well
•Combine flour, salt, cinnamon, soda and nutmeg
•Add vanilla, apples, and nuts.
•Combine just until moist do not over mix
•Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan or a 13x9 inch oblong pan
•Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Or about 45 mins if using a 13x9 inch pan.
•While cake is still in pan and hot, pour the topping over it. (Note, I take a Fork punch a few holes in the top for the topping to run down into the cake
•When completely cool, if using a tube pan, then remove from pan
Topping
•1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
•1/4 cup milk
•1/2 cup margarine or butter
•Combine all ingredients and bring to boil and cook for 2 and 1/2 minutes
•Pour immediately over hot cake in pan
