

Norman was born on November 14, 1946, in Nashville, TN to Norman and Rita Van Dame. He started his passion for the Boy Scouts of America by earning is Eagle Badge at the age of 15. He continued volunteering with the Boy Scouts for over five decades. In wanting to serve his country, he enlisted in the Army in July of 1964 where he served in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. After 20 years of service, he retired in July of 1984 as a Master Sergeant.
Norman went on to become the Human Resource Representative at Seminole Electric Cooperative Inc. until his second retirement.
Along with his passion for the Scouts, a day on his Goldwing was pure Heaven! He was elected to be the University Coordinator for Goldwing Road Rider’s Association. He also handled duties as the Assistant Director and then Director of his local Brandon chapter of the B Wingers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret Van Dame; children Mark and Jennifer Van Dame, T.J. Van Dame and Cynde and Steve Hardy. He leaves behind his granddaughters: Lauren Van Dame, Katie Van Dame, Hayley Hardy, Payton Hardy, Autumn Van Dame and Summer Van Dame.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 3:00 -5:00 PM on Sunday, December 13th, 2020 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home of Brandon. A small gathering will be available at a family home from 5:30 – 7:00 PM for those interested, contact a family member for the address.
