Peggy Markley Miller, born on January 4th, 1934, in Washington D.C., passed away on September 20th, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital South in Riverview, Florida. In her teenage years, Peggy was an avid softball player, playing in the position of pitcher. She was also a cheerleader in High School.
Peggy met James Miller in High School and upon graduation they married in 1952. Peggy served as a government secretary and then moved to France to be with James during his active military service in the U. S. Air Force. There, Peggy gave birth to their first son, James Jr.. Peggy and James returned to the United States in 1957 living in Virginia where Peggy would give birth to 3 more children Bryon, Debra, and Teresa.
While living in Virginia Peggy served as a bank teller. In later years a job transfer for James resulted in moving to Pennsylvania where Peggy would then work as an elementary school secretary. Upon retirement in 1993 James and Peggy moved to Florida. Peggy and James adopted a cat and named him Bandit. He brought so much love and joy to Peggy.
Peggy exuded a positive spirit all her life, enduring many health battles including breast cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. She loved life with all her heart and handled life trials with a smile. She loved being a mother to 4 children, a grandmother to 7 Grandchildren, and Great Grandmother to 6 great grandchildren and was very proud of each and everyone of them. Peggy also loved the newest edition to the family, Bella who she also would call “Belta”. In her lifetime she enjoyed bowling, traveling, dancing, playing cards, golf, bunko with friends and the CBS channel.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, William Graham Markley, Margaret Markley, her brother William Graham “Rex” Markley Jr. and her husband James Miller who passed in 2019.
Peggy is survived by her children James Jr, Bryon, Debra and Teresa, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
