Pete was born on November 3, 1945, to Fredrick Rudolph Maurer and Marie Gertrude Eimert in Englewood, NJ. After graduating from Butler High School in 1963, he enrolled in the Armed Forces of the United States of America in the Air Force as an Airman Third Class. He was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base until he was honorably discharged in April 1965.
He met Carol Louise Porter while he was stationed in Washington State. They married on October 16, 1965. Their marriage produced two daughters, Christine Elizabeth Maurer VanZetta and Lara Noel Maurer. Pete and Carol divorced in February 1981.
Pete met Judy Ann Baggett in Florida and they married on November 28, 1981. Judy has two daughters from a prior marriage, Christina Knurek and Michelle Fraser, who have provided Pete and Judy with seven grandchildren.
Pete attended some college at Hillsborough County Community College. In 1986, Pete became a Deputy Sheriff in the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, retiring in 2010.
He spent his years after retirement enjoying life with Judy at their home on their beautiful property. Pete could often be found tinkering with his tractor, which was one of his favorite pastimes.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, Fredrick Rudolph Maurer and Marie Gertrude Eimert Maurer Lightfoot, and his sister Susan Marie Maurer Jacobs Englehardt. He is survived by his wife, Judy, his two daughters Christine and Lara, his two stepdaughters Christina and Michelle, and their seven children, as well as his dear friend Terry Ward and his wonderful neighbors Belinda and Jeff Freeman.
As Pete would say, “Thanks, CYA!”
